Bit more

Once I'd got past my headache today and feeling sorry for myself I did another wash on the skin of the Argus's (Argii?).  Forgot to post that I'd already done one wash.  I purchased a couple of pre-made Citadel washes.  The one I've used is Devlan Mud.  Not looking bad now.  I then tackled the green in the armour.  Veeeery fiddly and definitely gonna need to redo some of the gold.  I managed to get the smallest brush I could find and it seems to be helping.
Might have to knock it on the head for a bit again though, headaches coming back :(  Maybe do some more later on.

Pics of work so far.  The green needs another coat or 2.

Sunday Morning

I've managed to slip away for a bit to do some more work on the mini's even though my granparents are still here.  I spend some more time with them later, but the lights really good at the moment so it's a good opportunity to work.
I've mixed up a kind of fawny colour and drybrushed it down the middle of the fur andon the ends of the tails.  I think it looks ok but I might change my mind.  I think I'm going to fill in the detail on the armour as well.  Will probably black over it first then go over that in green.  The green by itself might not cover very well otherwise.  I'm also going to investigate how to texture the skin.  Could be interesting :D
I'm still having fun though, that's the main thing.

Work so far

Bit lazy today

My grandparents are coming today but have managed to do a little bit on the mini's before they get here.  I mixed some calthan brown foundation with a tiny bit of black to paint the leather straps of the armour and i touched up the gold trim where I went over some of it in black the other day.  Oh and I made a darkish grey to drybrush over the fur to highlight it.
At this point I'm kinda flying solo a bit and seeing what happens.  Fingers crossed :D

Plan for tonight

Well, I was going to do some painting last night but I had a query that needed answering before I could go any further.  So I'm planning on doing it tonight instead.
The plan is to a) touch up the gold on the armour trim. b) go over the black for the fur and over the leather straps and c) touch up the skin colour.  I will do some better photos once all this is done since the last ones were a bit dark.  That's camera phones for you.

Kind of day 1

Well, this should be interesting.  And I should start at the beginning.  I met a guy at a role playing club I recently started going to.  He's into all sorts of stuff and showed me some of the wargaming minatures he's painted.  Now, before this, I hadn't even thought about getting into this kind of stuff.  It was one of those dark areas which you hear about but never know anyone who actually does it.  I'd only ever stood in front of Games Workshop and looked in the window thinking, "What on earth are they doing?"  So anyway, said friend lent be a copy of the Hordes rule book.  I had a flick through and thought, "Oooo shiny!"  So now my friend is guiding me in the steps to start painting these Hordes miniatures.
I started off by buying a warpack which included one warlock, and 3 warbeasts.  Here's the link to the official webby  My mate helped me put them together since they come in pieces and base coated them all black.  Left to my own devices I probably could have done this but would have taken me an age in comparison.
This afternoon we actually started painting them.  We'd had a trip to Cardiff last week and purchased a variety of paints.  I borrowed a couple of brushes off him and bought one of my own.  We started off with the skin of the Argii (the 2 headed wolves/dogs).  We did this in a couple of coats of Citadel Colours Graveyard Earth.  This will need to be highlighted etc later but its at least a place to start,  After this had dried we mixed some Game Colors Glorious Gold with a little Goblin Green.  This offset the yellowness of the gold to just tone it back a little.  This was painted over the armour for the detail round it.  That's had 2 coats and needs a third.  I might end up doing that tonight but depends since I'm knackered :)  Once that's done I'm going to start working on the fur and touching up the straps on the armour before painting that.
All in all it seems like I'm off to a decent start.  At least I have an experienced friend on hand to help out.  Otherwise I'd be a bit lost.  I mean I do have GW's "How to Paint Ciatdel Minatures" but it's still good to have a range of advice.  That's also what the interwebs is for!
Anyway, I shall get round to taking some photo's an hopefully adding them here.

Edit: As promised, here are the pics so far
